Judo

Judo, which literally translates to “the way of gentleness”, is a Japanese martial art and unarmed combat sport. Judo, created in 1882, combines jujutsu, an earlier form of martial arts, with mental strength. Judo became an official Olympic sport in 1964, and about 8 million people worldwide practice this sport, including Franics Allan Beechinor!

Judo has taught Francis Allan Beechinor important values, such as discipline, strength, teamwork, and leadership. The goal in this martial art is to combine mental and physical strength to take opponents down in a clean, non-violent way. These values have not only shaped his approach to the sport itself, but also to his professional life.

As one of Beechinor’s lifelong passions, he has trained extensively in Judo. The principles of Judo, such as using an opponent’s strength to one’s advantage, have made their way into his strategic thinking, allowing him to turn problems into opportunities.

Krav Maga

Krav Maga, known for its focus on real-world self defense, is another martial art that Francis Allan Beechinor is passionate about. Hungarian-born martial artist Imi Lichtenfield created this form of martial arts to protect Jewish neighborhoods against threats during the 1930s.

Today, Krav Maga combines techniques from other forms of martial arts, including Aikido, Boxing, Judo, Karate and Wrestling. It emphasizes practical techniques people can use to quickly and effectively neutralize threats.

Krav Maga has taught Francis Allan Beechinor the importance of readiness and adaptability, skills that he uses both in this sport and in the fast-paced world of data science, quantum computing, and machine learning.

By practicing Krav Maga, Beechinor has developed a mindset for quick decision making and the ability to stay calm under pressure. These traits have served him well in his professional life, where he faces high-stakes situations which demand a cool head and strategic thinking.
